Credor Revives The Iconic Gérald Genta Locomotive For 50th Anniversary

Credor, celebrating half a century of life this year, brings back the Gérald Genta-designed Locomotive.

The Credor Locomotive is another creation by the brilliant Swiss watchmaker Gérald Genta dating from 1979 that fits like many other of his well-known creations in the sport-chic category.

The relationship between the artist and Seiko resulted in several creations during the 70s, with the Locomotive being the most popular. The watch comes with his father’s signature, such as industrial design, geometric-shaped case, integrated bracelet and wide bezel among others.

The revival that now arrives with the ref. GCCR999 and which is very similar to the original arrives in the same hexagonal shape case but now in titanium instead of stainless steel, with contemporary dimensions of 38.80mm wide and 8.90mm thick retaining the thin profile, wide bezel held by six screws, mainly brushed finish, sapphire glass, screw-down crown at 4 o’clock, solid case back also held by six screws and 100m of water tightness.

The black textured dial is also quite faithful to the original which came with around 1,600 radial lines, applied polished hour markers and hands filled with luminescent material, a framed date window at 3 o’clock with a white background and a needle-shaped centre seconds hand.

The previous Quartz movement now gives way to the new CR01 automatic movement that runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 45 hours of power reserve.

Like the case, the beautiful integrated steel bracelet now comes in titanium, maintaining the design with hexagonal interconnecting links complemented by a three-fold clasp.

The new Creditor Locomotive arrives in a limited edition of 300 pieces with a price tag of €14,000.

Credor Celebrates 50 Years With A New Limited Edition Of The Eichi II

Credor turns 50 this year and continues to be an unknown brand for many.

Founded in 1974 by the Seiko Group, it soon stood out in the design of complex timepieces, with the main milestones being the launch of the Sonnerie in 2006, the arrival of the Eichi with only time function in 2008, the minute repeater in 2011 and the introduce of the Eichi II in 2014.

The Eichi II first appeared in a platinum and rose gold case with a white dial with hand-painted hour markers and logo, and later in 2020 appearing in a platinum case but this time with a deep blue “Lapis Lazuli” porcelain dial.

Now to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary, Credor brings back the Eichi II in a limited edition of 30 numbered units, which now comes in an 18k yellow gold case with dimensions of 39mm in diameter, 10mm in thickness and 45mm lug-to-lug distance. Featuring a fully polished finish, sapphire glass front and back, a fluted crown at 3 o’clock and 30m water resistance.

Just like the 2020 edition, it comes again with a deep blue porcelain dial that is now adorned by golden hour markers hand-painted by Micro Artist Studio in Shiojari that gives them a 3D effect that makes them look like they were applied, and which also extends to the brand’s logo and lettering.

Inside, as with all Credor watches, we find a Spring-Drive movement, here the Caliber 7R14 manual wound that comes with 60h of power reserve and that can be observed through the open rear case, which is decorated with silver bridges where we can find blue screws, rubies, a power reserve indicator and the brand logo.

The watch comes attached to a brown leather crocodile strap with a three-folding clasp in the same material as the case with a price tag of €48,000.
