Crafter Blue Debuts First Non-Diving Watch: The Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono
Crafter Blue is a watch microbrand whose mission is to produce diving watches and accessories for underwater maritime exploration.
Until recently, the brand only had two collections dedicated to diving, the Hyperion Ocean, with a time and date function and 600m water resistance, and the Hyperion Ocean Chronograph with a chronograph function and 200m water resistance.
In mid-June this year, Crafter Blue presented the new Bon Voyage line, bringing the brand’s first chronograph watch not dedicated to diving. The new Bon Voyage Macaron Super Chrono comes in a stainless steel case with a beautiful textured Bi-Compax dial, and hybrid movement at a very affordable price.
Housed in a 316L stainless steel case with dimensions of 42mm in diameter, 13.40mm in thickness and 51mm in length, it features a polished and brushed finish, twisted lugs, bidirectional bezel with metallic insert and 12-hour scale, domed sapphire crystal, screw-down crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pushers, screwed solid case back and 100m water resistance.
The watch’s centrepiece is its incredible dial, which comes with a navy blue-hued grained background with two symmetrical coloured subdials: a beige 24-hour counter at 3 o’clock and a light blue 60-minute register at 9 o’clock. Embossed Arabic numerals and dot markers as well as the hands come filled with Old Radium Super-LumiNova, a concave minute chapter ring at the edges, a framed date window at 6 o’clock, a centre chronograph seconds hand and the brand logo and lettering at noon and on the opposite side above the date window the “Chronograph” mention.
Inside, the brand continues to have Seiko as its main supplier of movements for its watches, which here opts for the first time for the Meca-Quartz VK64 movement, distinguished by coming with a mechanical module for the chronograph function shared by many other brands.
The watch arrives attached to an Italian camel leather strap with light blue stitching on the lugs and a steel pin buckle, which can be purchased at the brand’s online store for €238.14.
We cannot help but be surprised how Crafter Blue manages to produce a beautiful watch rich in details, such as a textured dial, sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel case and reliable Seiko movement for a price under €250, it is truly remarkable and therefore only us all that remains is to applaud and congratulate the brand.
