Introducing The New Boldr Expedition Enigmath

Singapore-based watch brand Boldr presents the Expedition Enigmath, a new tool watch that takes us back to the non-digital era.

In the pre-digital period of the 20th century, aviators had to resort to alternative analog instruments to make their complex calculations, one of these instruments was the slide rule bezel that could be found in some watches and it is in this sense that Boldr now brings us the new Expedition Enigmath in three color variants.

The watch wears a robust round stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter, 12.80mm thick and 47.50mm lug-to-lug distance, which comes with a sandblasted and polished finish, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-down crowns at 2 and 4 o’clock with the brand’s signature, screwed case back that is engraved with several mathematical calculations on the glass and a robust 200m of waterproofing.

The textured dial comes with a gradient effect whose green, blue or black tones intensify towards the edges and where we can find baton hour markers and a triangle between two dots marking 12 o’clock, Arabic numerals and skeletonized hands all filled with BGW9 Super- LumiNova that lights up blue in the dark. A center seconds hand with an arrow-shape tip and a counterweight in the shape of the brand’s logo, and the main highlight of the watch embodied in a white slide rule bezel that is further complemented by a black ring with different scales.

Inside, the watch is equipped with the Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement with hacking seconds, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.

The watches come attached to a 2-piece Canvas strap matching the tone of the dial with a pin buckle, which can be purchased for €562.95 (excluding VAT).

Our Opinion

Boldr is one of many micro-brands that stand out for the excellent job they have done, helping to bring more enthusiasts into the world of watchmaking.

With just over 8 years of existence, the journey it has taken is incredible, standing out above all for its tool watches, which combine beautiful designs, reliable movements and attractive prices.

The new Expedition Enigmath that arrives now is another good example of this, combining retro with contemporary design, we liked them all, however our favorite is SCHWARZWALD with a black dial.
