Exploring Resonance Mechanics Through Armin Strom’s Latest Dual Time GMT
Swiss independent watchmaker Armin Strom continues to expand its celebrated Resonance collection with the introduction of the Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine, a limited edition that combines advanced horology with a striking astronomical-inspired display. Limited to just 10 pieces, the new release adds a more artistic and expressive dimension to one of the brand’s most technically impressive platforms.
A Compact Case Designed Around Complexity
The new Dual Time GMT Resonance Aventurine comes housed in a stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and slightly over 9 mm in thickness. Despite the movement’s sophisticated architecture, the watch maintains balanced proportions and a relatively slim profile, making it wearable for daily use.

One of the defining elements of the case design remains the characteristic lip-shaped extension at 6 o’clock, a signature feature of the collection. Sapphire crystals on both the front and back provide an unobstructed view of the movement and reinforce Armin Strom’s philosophy of showcasing mechanical artistry rather than concealing it.
The watch is equipped with two separate crowns positioned at 4 and 8 o’clock, allowing independent adjustment of each time zone display.
Aventurine Dials Inspired by the Night Sky
The highlight of this edition is undoubtedly its pair of aventurine sub-dials. Each dial represents an independent time zone and features a deep blue surface filled with shimmering metallic inclusions that resemble a starry sky.

The two displays are surrounded by black azurage chapter rings that add texture and contrast, while integrated day/night indicators improve functionality for travelers managing multiple time zones.
Warm rose gold-toned hands and applied indexes complement the rose gold-colored mainplate visible beneath the dial side of the movement, creating an elegant contrast against the dark aventurine backdrop.
Calibre ARF22 and the Resonance Mechanism
Powering the watch is the in-house calibre ARF22, a movement that showcases Armin Strom’s expertise in resonance technology.
At the heart of the mechanism are two independent regulating systems connected through a resonance clutch spring. This system allows the two balance wheels to synchronize their oscillations, improving stability and rate consistency through resonance.
The movement beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5Hz) and delivers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

The architecture of the calibre is intentionally exposed and highly symmetrical. On the dial side, the polished resonance bridge immediately captures attention, while hand-finished bevels and contrasting textures emphasize the movement’s depth and complexity.
Additional decorative techniques include black polishing, perlage, circular graining, rhodium-coated components, and Côtes de Genève on the reverse side bridges. Like all Armin Strom timepieces, the movement undergoes a double assembly process to ensure optimal finishing and mechanical precision.
