Casio Edifice EFR-109: A New Take On The Classic Three-Hander
What happens when Casio takes the formula behind its modern Edifice watches and strips it back to the essentials? The answer is the new EFR-109 — a compact three-hander that trades oversized proportions and busy complications for vintage-inspired styling, a 38 mm case and a remarkably clean dial.

Edifice has traditionally been associated with sporty chronographs and automotive-inspired designs, but the EFR-109 takes the collection in a quieter direction. Its stainless steel construction, box-shaped crystal and simple quartz display give it the character of a classic everyday watch, while 100-metre water resistance keeps it practical.
At 9.20 mm thick, it is also among the more compact options in the current Edifice lineup.
A compact stainless steel case
The EFR-109 measures 38 mm across and 9.20 mm thick, with a round stainless steel case that gives the watch relatively slim proportions.
A box-shaped mineral crystal sits above the dial, adding to the model’s vintage-inspired profile. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, making it suitable for everyday wear.
Four different interpretations
Casio offers the EFR-109 in blue, black, green and cream, with the first three paired with stainless steel three-link bracelets.
The blue and black versions use silver accents and a clean minute track around the dial. The green model takes a more distinctive approach, combining gold accents with a black outer ring and white minute track.

The cream version is the most overtly retro of the four. It features a black outer ring, beige lume on the hands and a seconds hand with an orange tip, along with a brown perforated leather strap and contrasting stitching.
All four variants have applied hour markers, luminous hands and a date display at 3 o’clock.
Quartz simplicity
Power comes from a quartz movement, providing a straightforward three-hand display with a date function. The setup keeps the watch low-maintenance and focused on everyday usability rather than mechanical complications.

A smaller Edifice
With the EFR-109, Casio takes a simpler approach to the Edifice formula. The 38 mm case gives it a noticeably more compact presence than many of the collection’s sportier models, while the four configurations allow the same basic design to shift between contemporary and retro styling.
The bracelet versions offer a more modern combination of steel and metallic detailing, while the cream model’s leather strap and warmer accents give it a distinctly vintage feel.

Price and availability
All four EFR-109 variants are priced at € 119, although the final price can vary between European countries depending on the applicable VAT rate.
For that price, the watch combines a 38 mm stainless steel case, box-shaped mineral crystal, quartz movement, date display and 100-metre water resistance in a compact package. A real bargain.
