Bulova Revives Vintage Super Seville With Modern Precisionist Movement
Bulova recovers its vintage Super Seville model through a reissue that for now only comes with a square case, without the previous day window at noon and powered by its Precisionist movement.
This is a historic model from the American watch brand, part of the sport-chic watch category that is so trendy today, with many similarities to the “Rolex Presidential” as the watch, in addition to the arched day window at noon, also features a date window with a magnifyer at 3 o’clock, a fluted bezel and a 3-row bracelet. The Bulova Super Seville, in addition to the round case, also featured a version with a square case and it is the latter that the brand is now bringing back.
The new Bulova Super Seville comes with a TV-screen-shaped case in stainless steel measuring 37.50mm wide by 10mm high that features a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the bezel and crown, sapphire crystal with magnifier over the date window, fluted bezel, crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s logo, solid case back and 30m water resistance.
The dial features a vertical brushed finish, applied indexes with tips and centre hands filled with luminescent material, a date window next to the crown, the brand’s logo set at noon, a minute rehaut with Roman numerals and the brand’s lettering at the 12 o’clock and the Precisionist movement hallmark at 6 o’clock.
The Super Seville reissue arrives in three variants, one with a blue dial, another one in green and finally one that comes in a steel case with a gold PVD coating with a white dial.
Inside, it is now powered with the brand’s 8-jewel Precisionist quartz movement, which features great accuracy and very smooth sweep seconds, similar to Seiko’s Spring Drive movements.
The watches come attached to an integrated tapered bracelet matching the case tone, with the central links polished and the remaining ones brushed with a folding clasp.
The new Bulova is available for USD 695 for the normal steel versions and USD 775 for the steel version with a gold PVD coating.
