Built For The Abyss: The New Junghans Aquaris
With the launch of the Aquaris collection, Junghans expands its portfolio into serious professional dive watch territory. The new Aquaris combines robust engineering, high water resistance, and distinct design executions, positioning it as one of the brand’s most technically capable watches to date.
Design and Case
The Aquaris is housed in a substantial 46.90 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 14.50 mm, giving it a commanding wrist presence. The cushion-shaped architecture is complemented by short, sharply angled lugs designed to improve ergonomics despite the bold dimensions.

The case is predominantly satin-brushed, accented by polished surfaces that introduce refinement to its otherwise tool-oriented profile. At 3 o’clock, a prominent crown guard integrates two separate crowns: the upper crown at 2 o’clock operates the internal rotating timing bezel, while the lower crown at 4 o’clock handles time-setting and winding functions.
The watch is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal for enhanced durability. On the reverse side, a closed stainless steel caseback features a polished relief engraving depicting a school of fish, reinforcing the Aquaris’ underwater identity. Beyond its robust construction, the collection also stands out through its varied dial executions, which define the personality of each reference.
Dial and Color Options
The Aquaris collection launches with four references divided into two stylistic directions.
The modern variants are offered with either a blue dial and matching bezel or a red dial with coordinated bezel insert. These versions feature applied indices and faceted hands, creating a contemporary and highly legible aesthetic with strong color integration across the dial and bezel.

The vintage-inspired models adopt a matte black dial paired with a black bezel. In these versions, the first 15 minutes of the internal bezel are highlighted in either orange or yellow-green, a detail that is echoed on the oversize arrow-shaped minute hand. The hour hand takes the form of a broad sword style that tapers toward its base, reinforcing the retro dive-watch character.

Underwater legibility is further enhanced by the use of Super-LumiNova Grade X1 on the hands, indices, and all markings of the internal bezel. This high-performance luminous compound emits a strong green glow, ensuring excellent readability in low-light or submerged conditions.
Movement and Performance
Powering the Aquaris is the Junghans Calibre J830, a movement produced by Seiko and inspired by the architecture of the Grand Seiko Caliber 9S51. It delivers a 48-hour power reserve and incorporates a date complication positioned at 3 o’clock, displayed via white numerals on a black disc for clear contrast.

To enhance reliability, the movement is protected against magnetic interference by a soft iron inner shield. The Aquaris also achieves an impressive 500-meter water resistance rating, firmly placing it within the realm of professional dive watches. The case thickness contributes directly to this depth capability.
Strap and Clasp System
Each Aquaris is delivered with both a stainless steel bracelet and an additional rubber strap, and all options are equipped with quick-release spring bars for convenient interchangeability.
The stainless steel bracelet features a diver’s extension system, allowing the watch to be worn comfortably over a wetsuit. In addition, it incorporates a notch-based micro-adjustment mechanism that enables precise sizing adjustments without the need for tools.

Rubber strap colors are coordinated with their respective references. The vintage-inspired models are paired with black rubber straps, while the blue version receives a matching blue strap and the orange-accented model is fitted with a bright orange rubber strap.
Availability and Pricing
The modern blue and red Aquaris references are priced at € 2,690, while the vintage-inspired black models with orange or yellow-green accents retail at € 2,790.
With its 500-meter water resistance, magnetic protection, strong lume performance, and distinctive dual-crown configuration, the Aquaris represents a technically ambitious addition to the Junghans lineup and marks a clear step into the professional dive watch segment.
