Bremont Revives Broadsword Series In Military-Inspired Bronze Edition

Bremont, the official watch supplier of the British Armed Forces, brings back the Broadsword series as part of a partnership established in 2019 with the Ministry of Defense that allows the symbols and coats of arms of that country’s Armed Forces to be displayed on its watches.

The watches are based on a set of specifications known from the military code w.w.w. (watch wristlet waterproof) which translates into features such as robustness, water resistance, a black dial with white text, luminous marks, an independent seconds register and a rated chronometer movement.

The new watches come in a CuSn8 Bronze case measuring 40mm wide, 12.50mm high and 47mm lug-to-lug distance featuring a brushed finish, smooth bezel, sapphire glass, fluted crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s logo, sides crossed out by three horizontal lines of asymmetrical sizes, screwed steel case back embossed with the badges of the three branches of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces – Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army, and last but not least, 100m water resistance.

The matte black dial, unlike previous editions, now comes with a sandwich-type construction, with cutouts in the Arabic numerals, the 6 o’clock marker and also in the four cardinal points of the small seconds where the lower layer filled with Super-LumiNova in dark beige tones stands out mimics patina. The two centre hands outlined in black and the hour markers on the chapter ring also receive the same luminescent material that matches the numbers on the date window next to the crown.

Inside we find the chronometer-rated Caliber BE-95-2AV with 31 jewels based on the Sellita SW260-1 that runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch is limited to 100 pieces and comes attached to a black sailcloth strap with a bronze pin buckle that can be purchased now for €4,150.
