Breitling Top Time Deus And Triumph Are Back And Now In The Regular Collection
After a few weeks ago we saw the arrival of the new Breitling Top Time Classic Cars, resized and intrinsically linked to the automobile cult, the brand now arrives with the new Top Time Deus and Triumph connected to two-wheeled machines.
The big news is the fact that these two collaborations are now part of Breitling’s permanent collection, contrary to what has happened to date with the three previous limited editions.
And if in Top Time Triumph we don’t find big aesthetic alterations the same doesn’t apply to Top Time Deus appearing now with a “Panda” inverted black dial with three white totalizers adding to the previous 30-minute counter and running seconds a new one 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, on the dial we can still find a white chapter ring with the same details in red and orange from the two previous editions, as well as the chronograph hands in red including the centre seconds one.
The Top Time Triumph renews its focus on the layout of the “Zorro” dial with an ice blue background obtained through a metal brushing technique, which comes with two black counters matching the tone of the outer ring.
On the outside, the new Top Time sports the same 41mm diameter by 13.3mm thick stainless steel case, which means the case is slimmer by almost 1mm thanks to the new movement, smooth bezel, fluted crown and two pump style pushers, sapphire crystal front and back and 100m water resistance.
As already revealed, the inside houses a new automatic movement, the Manufacture Caliber 01 COSC certified that replaces the previous B23, which comes with a column wheel, and a vertical clutch. Operating at the same 4Hz frequency but now offering 70 hours of power reserve means an increase of almost a day compared to the previous 48 hours.
Both chronographs can be purchased with two different strap options, opting for a black rally leather strap or a mesh steel bracelet with curved ends.
Prices of €7,550 and €7,950 for the leather and steel bracelet options align with those of the Classic Cars collection.
Our Opinion
We think it was a good decision for the brand to include these two chronographs in the regular collection, given the good public reception of the limited versions of these collaborations.
We also liked that Breitling opted for a new iteration of the Top Time Deus although it seems to us that the first iteration of 2021 with a “Panda” dial will continue to gather the preferences of the public and ours as well.
As for the taboo subject of the price, it represents a premium of more than € 2,000 compared to the last limited edition, however, we have to recognize that the chronographs now come with a more robust movement and with an open rear case, we don’t know if it will justify everything, but certainly two years after the first collaboration inflation could be a good argument to justify all the rest.
