Breguet Marks 224 Years Of The Tourbillon With The New Sidéral 7255
To mark the 224th anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s 1801 patent of the tourbillon, Breguet has unveiled a limited-edition timepiece that brings a major first for the brand: its inaugural flying tourbillon. The new Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 is a celebration of horological innovation, technical elegance, and celestial inspiration.
A Tribute to Horological Legacy
This new model joins the Classique collection, staying true to the traditional codes Breguet is known for, while also introducing several firsts. The Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 is limited to just 50 numbered pieces and features the maison’s first flying tourbillon — a type of tourbillon that is supported only from below, allowing it to appear suspended within the dial aperture.

Aventurine Enamel Dial and Applied Breguet Details
The watch is also the first Breguet piece to feature an aventurine enamel dial, whose deep blue, star-flecked surface evokes the night sky. This material lends a striking cosmic texture to the dial, reinforcing the “Sidéral” naming — a term referring not to sidereal timekeeping, but rather to its astronomical aesthetic.

Gold applied Breguet numerals, classic open-tipped Breguet hands, and engraved “Breguet” and “Tourbillon” nameplates all share a matching gold tone, paying homage to the brand’s 250th anniversary color scheme. Together with the aventurine enamel, they give the watch a rich, regal appearance while retaining a sense of timeless refinement.
Dimensions and Case Architecture
The 38 mm case, crafted in Breguet’s proprietary gold alloy, features the hallmark Empire-style design: slim straight lugs, a slim 10.20 mm profile, and the brand’s signature fluted caseband. These elements ground the watch in Breguet’s classic aesthetic lineage while accommodating the technical innovation within.

Calibre 187M1: Flying Tourbillon With Mystery Architecture
The new Calibre 187M1 manually wound movement powers the timepiece, operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour and delivering a 50-hour power reserve. It is distinguished by a sophisticated construction that enhances the visual effect of the flying tourbillon.

The tourbillon mechanism itself rotates once per minute and doubles as the subsidiary seconds indicator. It is mounted on a sapphire disc with a hidden geared ring on its periphery. This architecture allows the tourbillon to appear as though it is unconnected to any support, delivering a “mystery” visual effect that plays with transparency and mechanical illusion. From the dial side, the regulating organ seems to hover freely — a feat of both mechanical precision and visual artistry.
The movement’s baseplate is also decorated with a guilloché motif inspired by the Quai de l’Horloge, the historic site of Breguet’s original Paris workshop, positioned near the River Seine.
Limited Availability
Only 50 pieces of the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 will be produced. Priced at CHF 190,000, it comes with individual numbers, as expected.

Our Opinion
This is yet another spectacular release from Breguet to mark the brand’s first quarter-millennium of watchmaking excellence. Following the elegant Classique Souscription 2025, the poetic Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7035—which absolutely stole our hearts—and the nostalgic charm of the Type XX Chronographe 2075BH pair, the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255 adds to the celebration with not one but two firsts: Breguet’s first flying tourbillon and first aventurine dial.
If that weren’t enough to make us fall in love, the attention to detail is, as always, uncompromising. From the proprietary gold alloy case and its timeless fluted profile, to the open-tipped hands, applied numerals, and the visual magic of the “mysterious” tourbillon suspended over a beautifully decorated movement—everything has been carefully considered and exquisitely executed.
The guilloché decoration on the mainplate, inspired by the Quai de l’Horloge and the nearby River Seine, adds an emotional and historical layer that makes this piece not just technically impressive, but deeply evocative. This is exactly the kind of watch that makes our eyes shine.
