Breguet Celebrates 250 Years With The New Classique 7225 And 7235
As part of its 250th anniversary celebrations, Breguet expands its Classique collection with two remarkable timepieces — the Classique 7225 and Classique 7235. Both models pay tribute to the brand’s rich watchmaking heritage while incorporating modern materials, precision engineering, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Breguet Classique 7225: Tradition Meets Cutting-Edge Mechanics
The Breguet Classique 7225 stands out for its elegant proportions and technical sophistication. The 41 mm case, crafted from the brand’s exclusive 18K Breguet gold alloy, features finely fluted sides inspired by historic pocket watches. The case thickness of 10.70 mm maintains a refined profile, complemented by a dark blue alligator leather strap. Although designed as a dress watch, it offers a 30-meter water resistance.
A Dial Inspired by History
The dial draws inspiration from Breguet’s No. 1176 pocket watch (1802–1809) and features a stunning hand-guilloché “Quai de l’Horloge” pattern — a tribute to the street where Abraham-Louis Breguet’s Parisian workshop once stood. The intricate dial contrasts with circular-brushed sub-dials, engraved scales, and blued Breguet hands.
A Roman numeral chapter ring frames the central hours, while an outer minute track encircles the sub-dials. The layout includes dual small seconds sub-registers — the left of which can be reset via a dedicated pusher — and a 60-hour power reserve indicator displayed on a lower arc.

The New Caliber 74SC
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the manual-winding Caliber 74SC introduces one of the most advanced movements in modern Breguet watchmaking. Operating at an impressive 10Hz (72,000 vibrations per hour), it ensures accuracy within ±1 second per day.
This high-frequency performance is achieved through a magnetic pivot balance system, minimizing friction by suspending the balance staff between two magnetic fields. Key components such as the balance spring, pallet lever, and escape wheel are crafted in silicon, ensuring resistance to magnetism and wear. Despite its complexity, the movement measures only 5.50 mm thick and is decorated with an engraved map of the brand’s original Parisian neighborhood.

The Breguet Classique 7225 joins the brand’s regular production line with a price of CHF 75,000, offering a blend of traditional aesthetics and state-of-the-art mechanical innovation.
Breguet Classique 7235: A Tribute to the No. 5 Pocket Watch
The second release, the Breguet Classique 7235, echoes the timeless design of the No. 5 pocket watch from 1794. It features a 39 mm case with a slim 9.90 mm profile, also crafted from 18K Breguet gold and decorated with engraved fluting around the sides. Like its counterpart, it is paired with a blue alligator strap and offers a 30m water resistance rating.

Elegant Dial Work
The dial of the 7235 continues the brand’s tradition of hand-guilloché artistry, displaying the same “Quai de l’Horloge” motif, but with varying scales across the sub-dials to create depth and contrast. Blue Breguet-style hands indicate the hours and minutes, accompanied by a running seconds display, an arc-shaped 45-hour power reserve indicator, and a solid gold moonphase disc — all inspired by the layout of the original No. 5 pocket watch.
Automatic Caliber 502.3.DRL
Inside, the automatic Caliber 502.3.DRL pays homage to the self-winding mechanism found in Breguet’s early perpetual timepieces. This ultra-thin movement (only 3.95 mm thick) features a silicon balance spring and inverted lever escapement, along with a distinctive off-centered 18K gold rotor that maintains the balance of the design.

The bridges and plates are meticulously engraved with a map of the historic “Quai de l’Horloge” district, uniting craftsmanship with historical symbolism.
Limited to 250 individually numbered pieces, the Breguet Classique 7235 is priced at CHF 65,000.
A Celebration of Breguet’s Legacy
The Classique 7225 and 7235 represent a perfect synthesis of heritage, design, and innovation. Drawing from Breguet’s historic pocket watches and translating them into modern masterpieces, these two timepieces highlight the enduring relevance of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s vision — even 250 years later.
Final Thoughts
Since April of this year, the number of limited editions dedicated to Breguet’s 250th anniversary has reached an impressive six, with many others celebrating the same historic milestone entering the permanent collection — a true testament to the brand’s creative strength.
Among the many recent “works of art” released by Breguet, it’s difficult to single out one as the most remarkable, as each appeals to a different sensibility. Personally, I remain captivated by the Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7035 and Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255, whose 38 mm cases only enhance their charm.
Still, I cannot remain indifferent to the latest introductions. Of the two new Classique models, the 7225’s Caliber 74SC particularly stands out — a movement beating at 72,000 vibrations per hour, whose intricate decoration invites endless admiration. Its visual beauty truly rivals the exquisite guilloché dial, making it a timepiece that celebrates both technical mastery and artistic expression.
