BMW Concept M Neue Klasse: First Look At The Electric M3 Successor
BMW has unveiled the Concept M Neue Klasse at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, providing the strongest indication yet of what its upcoming high-performance electric sports sedan could look like. Expected to arrive in 2027, the production model is widely anticipated to become the all-electric successor to the iconic M3.
A New Era of M Design
The Concept M Neue Klasse introduces BMW M’s future design language, featuring a bold front end where the headlights and kidney grille are integrated into a single horizontal element. Yellow lighting accents, inspired by the BMW M Hybrid V8 race car, are set to become a signature feature of future M models.
The aggressive styling continues with large air intakes, distinctive square-shaped “Track Lights,” muscular rear fenders, and a prominent ducktail spoiler. Aerodynamic components such as the front splitter, hood outlet, and rear diffuser are made from natural-fiber composite materials, while the concept debuts a new Monza Red paint finish.
Modern Performance-Focused Interior
Inside, the concept adopts BMW’s Neue Klasse cockpit layout, combining a panoramic display at the base of the windshield with a driver-oriented central touchscreen.
The cabin features four bucket seats trimmed in Bathurst Blue and Berry Red leather, alongside black nubuck leather used on the steering wheel, door panels, and roll-bar structure. A redesigned center console and M-specific digital graphics further reinforce the car’s sporting character.
Four Motors and 800-Volt Technology
BMW has already confirmed that its future electric M sedan will feature four electric motors, one powering each wheel. Working alongside BMW M Dynamic Performance Control software, the system will continuously optimize power delivery for maximum performance and handling.
The model will also benefit from an 800-volt electrical architecture for faster charging and a battery pack with more than 100 kWh of capacity. BMW’s next-generation cylindrical battery cells and structurally integrated battery housing are designed to improve both efficiency and driving dynamics.
The Concept M Neue Klasse offers a clear preview of BMW M’s electrified future, combining advanced EV technology with the performance-focused DNA that defines the brand.
