Back To White: Nomos Ahoi Revisits A Classic Dial
Nomos Glashütte expands its lineup with a fresh version of the Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date, reaffirming the model’s unique position within the brand’s catalog as a refined yet robust everyday watch. Known for fusing utility with clean German design, this latest Ahoi introduces a familiar white silver-plated dial, reminiscent of earlier iterations, while incorporating the brand’s latest in-house movement technologies.

Refined Construction, Everyday Resilience
At 38.50 mm in diameter and just under 10mm in height, the Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date achieves a well-balanced profile that comfortably suits a variety of wrists. The stainless steel case, polished for a crisp finish, is fitted with integrated crown guards flanking a screw-down crown, ensuring durability without compromising the watch’s slim silhouette. Water resistance is rated at 200 meters, which is impressive as it is not a pure diving watch due to the obvious lack of a rotating bezel.

Notably, a red warning ring around the crown stem provides a functional cue, visually alerting the wearer when the crown is unscrewed—a practical measure to help avoid potential water or dust ingress.
A Classic Dial with Functional Enhancements
The new white silver-plated dial brings the Ahoi back to its roots, showcasing black Arabic numerals, clean minute markers, and a recessed small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The seconds hand is rendered in red for contrast, while the hour and minute hands, in light blue and filled with Super-LumiNova, ensure high legibility both day and night. Rectangular lume plots around the periphery glow green in the dark, assisting with time reading in low-light conditions.

Positioned at 3 o’clock is a date aperture with a white background and oversized numerals, a feature specific to the 38.50 mm model. The execution preserves the dial’s symmetry while offering enhanced readability compared to standard date windows. The bidirectional quick-set date mechanism adds further practicality, allowing easy forward or backward adjustment.
Powered by the In-House DUW 6101
At the heart of the Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date is the DUW 6101, one of Nomos’ most advanced calibers. Just 3.60 mm thick, this automatic movement is engineered with the brand’s proprietary swing system, encompassing its in-house escapement and balance assembly. The DUW 6101 also features a peripheral date display mechanism, which allows the date ring to encircle the movement rather than sit atop it, preserving the slim profile of the watch.

The movement delivers 42 hours of power reserve and includes a bidirectional rotor for efficient winding. It can be viewed through the optional sapphire crystal caseback, revealing Glashütte-style finishing: a three-quarter plate with stripe decoration, blued screws, and perlage. A solid caseback is also available for those preferring a more understated look or with a special engravement.
Versatile Strap and Wearability
Completing the package is a blue-black woven textile strap, fitted with a stainless steel winged clasp. Designed for comfort and active wear, the strap is equipped with quick-change drilled lugs, allowing for easy strap swapping without tools.

Price and Availability
The Nomos Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date is offered in two versions, with a closed caseback for € 3,720 or with a sapphire crystal caseback for € 4,020.
