Back From The Depths: The New Benrus Ultra-Deep 2025
Benrus honors its rich heritage of robust tool watches with the return of one of its most recognizable dive models — the Ultra-Deep. Originally introduced during the golden age of diving in the 1960s, the Ultra-Deep captured the spirit of underwater exploration with its compressor-style case and practical design. Now, for 2025, Benrus revisits this classic with a faithful re-edition that merges vintage aesthetics with modern reliability.
A Design Rooted in the 1960s
The new Benrus Ultra-Deep 2025 Re-Edition retains the essence of the original compressor diver while introducing subtle refinements for today’s wearer. The stainless steel case measures a compact 36.50 mm in diameter and 41.50 mm lug-to-lug, perfectly balancing vintage proportions with modern comfort. It features the distinctive twin-crown layout — one crown at 2 o’clock for time and date adjustments, and another at 4 o’clock dedicated to operating the internal rotating bezel, a hallmark of compressor-style designs.

Although not an exact reproduction of the historic EPSA Super Compressor case, the Ultra-Deep maintains the spirit of the original through its 200-meter (20 ATM) water resistance, achieved with screw-down crowns. The watch is topped with a double-domed acrylic crystal, complete with an internal date magnifier, a charmingly period-correct detail that enhances legibility while preserving the vintage look.
Clean Dial, Functional Layout
The matte black dial is understated yet rich in character, featuring cathedral-style hands, a clear minute track, and C3 Super-LumiNova across the hands, hour markers, and bezel indicators for optimal readability in low light. The internal 60-minute timing ring blends seamlessly with the dial, visually enlarging the watch while maintaining its compact wrist presence.

Reliable Automatic Movement
Inside the Ultra-Deep ticks the Soprod P024 automatic movement. It offers hacking seconds, a quick-set date, and a power reserve of approximately 38 hours — ensuring dependable daily performance. This movement choice aligns perfectly with Benrus’s tradition of creating durable, serviceable timepieces built for real-world use.

Period-Appropriate Strap Options
Benrus complements the vintage-inspired design with a Jubilee-style stainless steel bracelet, equipped with quick-release spring bars for easy changes. The brand also includes a blue nylon NATO strap, providing a sportier and more rugged option for swimming or casual wear.

Price and Availability
The Benrus Ultra-Deep 2025 Re-Edition is priced at CHF 1,105 (excluding taxes). It stands as an accessible entry into the world of heritage dive watches, combining authentic mid-century charm with the robustness expected from a modern diver.
