Bell & Ross has built its reputation on watches inspired by aeronautical instruments, and its latest release strengthens that connection. The new BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display is a limited edition of 500 pieces, created in partnership with the French Air and Space Force’s Rafale Solo Display team. Known for showcasing Dassault Aviation’s Rafale fighter jet through demanding aerial demonstrations, the unit embodies precision, performance, and technical mastery—all qualities reflected in this timepiece.

First Impressions at Watches and Wonders

It was in April of this year, during the last edition of Watches and Wonders, that we were introduced to the BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display and had the chance to hold it in our hands. The aviation-themed details immediately stood out, from the cockpit-inspired pushers to the subtle use of color accents. We must confess that it quickly became one of our favorites in the collection. Its 42 mm size may feel excessive for small to medium wrists, but on larger wrists—or paired with a pilot’s suit—it looks perfectly at home.

Design Rooted in Cockpit Instruments

The BR-03 case has long been the clearest expression of Bell & Ross’s aviation-inspired design. With its 42 mm square case in microblasted black ceramic, the watch is lightweight, scratch-resistant, and highly durable. The material choice ensures both comfort on the wrist and resilience in everyday use. The watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating for maximum visibility and provides 100 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for daily wear beyond the cockpit.

The matte black dial enhances clarity, with large white numerals and hands filled with Super-LumiNova X1 for optimal legibility in all lighting conditions. Orange chronograph hands provide instant readability, while a yellow dotted line around the date window recalls markings often found in aircraft cockpits. Subtle branding includes the Rafale Solo Display logo at 6 o’clock, giving the watch a mark of authenticity without overwhelming the design.

Additional details reinforce the aviation theme: the chronograph pushers are engraved with “START” and “RESET” and filled with orange and yellow lacquer, echoing cockpit controls.

Chronograph Performance

At the heart of the BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display is the automatic BR-CAL.301 movement, based on the reliable ETA 2894-2. It offers a 42-hour power reserve, small seconds at 3 o’clock, and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 9. The central chronograph seconds hand ensures quick time readings, while a tachymeter scale on the flange adds another nod to aviation-inspired functionality.

Two Straps, Two Styles

Bell & Ross offers two strap options with this model. The first is a branded hook-and-loop strap, delivering a secure fit and professional pilot aesthetic. The second is a black open-worked rubber strap, designed for comfort and versatility in everyday settings. Both complement the instrument-like nature of the watch.

Limited Edition with Authentic Roots

With only 500 pieces produced, the BR-03 Chrono Rafale Solo Display is priced at € 6,300. The combination of a high-tech ceramic case, functional chronograph features, and design details tied closely to aviation makes it a compelling addition to Bell & Ross’s professional lineup.
