AVI-8 Presents The New Hawker Hurricane Night Reaper Limited Edition
AVI-8 has just presented the Hawker Hurricane Night Reaper capsule collection with three limited edition watches.
This exclusive collection pays tribute to the RAF (Royal Air Force) Squadron Leader Karel “Kut” Kuttelwascher, a Czech pilot who achieved unprecedented feats especially in night raids during the Second World War commanding a Hurricane JX-E BE581 fighter, which earned him the cog-name “Night Reaper” represented on the fuselage of his plane through a yellow scythe and a red banner.
The collection thus consists of a Classic Chronograph and a Carey Dual Time watches limited to 170 pieces each and a Clowes Automatic of 120 units. All watches are dressed in black in a stealthy style, sharing a stainless steel case that comes with black-coated PVD, a solid steel case back engraved with the ‘Night Reaper’ logo, 50m water resistance, a black dial and a black leather strap.
Classic Chronograph ‘Void Black’
The Classic Chronograph ‘Void Black’ comes in a case measuring 43.50mm in diameter, 11mm thick and 50mm lug-to-lug distance, mineral glass and fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pump-pushers. The dial features a tricompax layout with registers at 12-6-9 o’clock with the main highlight being the running seconds that comes with the RAF Roundel background, printed Arabic numerals and hands filled with luminescent material, red chronograph hands and even a date window next to the crown. Inside, the watch comes with a Japanese Quartz movement and can be purchased for €220.95.

Clowes Automatic ‘Night Shadow’
The Clowes Automatic ‘Night Shadow’ is presented in a robust 46mm wide, 12mm high and 55mm lug-length case, sapphire crystal and large diamond-shaped crown. The dial comes with a textured camouflage pattern with a Flieger Type B layout, embossed Arabic numerals, a triangle between two dots marking 12 o’clock and hands, all filled with Super-LumiNova. A red center seconds hand with a fighter-shaped counterweight and also a date window at 6 o’clock. Powered by a Japanese automatic movement. Like the ‘Void Black’ edition it comes with a black leather strap with two stitchings next to the lugs in a retro style and can be purchased for €366.95.

Carey Dual Time ‘Viper Black’
Finally we have the Carey Dual Time ‘Viper Black’ which comes in a 44mm by 12mm round case, mineral glass, fluted crown and two pushers. On the bicompax dial two 24-hour registers at 3 and 9 o’clock, applied Arabic numerals and hands that glow green in the dark, a center seconds hand also with a counterweight in the shape of the Hurricane JX-E in red matching the tone of many other details and a date window at 6 o’clock. The watch is powered by Japanese Quatz movement. It comes attached to a black leather strap that contrasts with the white stitching on the edges and costs €187.95.
