Glashütte Original Adds Moon Phase To The PanoLunarInverse: A Celestial Marvel
Glashütte Original has introduced the new PanoLunarInverse, a sophisticated evolution of the brand’s signature line of inverted movement watches. Building on the legacy of the PanoInverse and PanoMaticInverse models, this latest release incorporates a moon phase complication for the first time, enhancing the technical allure and aesthetic complexity of the collection.
The PanoLunarInverse features a 42mm by 12.50mm case crafted in 950 Platinum, a hallmark of Glashütte Original’s commitment to luxurious materials. The case, finished with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, includes sapphire crystal on both the front and back, providing a clear view of the intricacies of its movement. The watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters, and its fluted crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, enhancing the watch’s ergonomic design.
What makes the PanoLunarInverse truly stand out is the dial design, which offers a glimpse of the movement’s inner workings. Between 2 and 6 o’clock, an opening reveals the balance wheel and the duplex swan-neck fine adjustment, a signature element of the collection. The dial also features a stunning silver pyramid-shaped Guilloché pattern on the 3/4 main plate, further showcasing the brand’s craftsmanship. The off-centre time display, positioned between 9 and 10 o’clock, integrates the moon phase complication, highlighted by a disc made of blue aventurine with 3D laser-engraved moons. The small seconds sub-dial, along with a large date window at 2 o’clock, adds functional elegance to the design. Blue screws and lilac jewels are scattered across the dial, adding a refined pop of colour against the silver and blue backdrop.
At the heart of the PanoLunarInverse is the Caliber 91-04 hand-wound movement, a 53-jewel mechanical marvel that beats at a frequency of 28,800 Vph and provides a power reserve of up to 45 hours. The movement’s bridges are decorated with the same Guilloché pattern as the dial, creating a harmonious aesthetic when viewed through the case back. A skeletonized rotor with an embossed Moon further highlights the watch’s celestial theme.
This timepiece is offered on either an alligator nubuck leather strap or a blue synthetic strap made from recycled materials, both of which are secured with a platinum folding clasp. Limited to just 200 pieces, the Glashütte Original PanoLunarInverse is priced at USD 42,600.
For collectors and enthusiasts of fine watchmaking, the PanoLunarInverse represents a masterful blend of technical innovation and timeless design, now enhanced with the poetic beauty of a moon phase complication.
