Audemars Piguet expands its latest-generation perpetual calendar collection with the introduction of three new references that emphasize both mechanical transparency and advanced materials. The new releases include the first open-worked interpretations of the brand’s next-generation perpetual calendar, alongside the first Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar crafted entirely in ceramic and powered by the automatic Calibre 7138.
Open-Worked Perpetual Calendars in the Code 11.59 and Royal Oak Collections
Two of the newly introduced models feature open-worked dials that reveal the structure and operation of Audemars Piguet’s Calibre 7139. Originally unveiled in 2025, this movement represents a revised approach to the perpetual calendar complication, designed to improve ergonomics while preserving the traditional mechanical logic of the complication.

Both watches share the same case architecture as their closed-dial counterparts but replace the solid dial with a skeletonized construction. This open-worked layout exposes the calendar mechanism, bridges, and gear trains, allowing the wearer to observe the perpetual calendar components as they function and are adjusted via the crown.
The Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar Openworked is housed in a white gold case combined with a black ceramic mid-case, a defining feature of the Code 11.59 line. The movement is presented in a predominantly rhodium-toned finish, with contrasting hands and calendar indications designed to maintain legibility despite the complexity of the open display.

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked is executed in titanium and incorporates polished accents made from Palladium-based bulk metallic glass on the bezel studs and bracelet links. Rose gold hands and calendar markers provide visual contrast against the monochromatic movement architecture, reinforcing the technical character of the Royal Oak while ensuring clear readability.
First All-Ceramic Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
The third release marks the first time Audemars Piguet has paired its latest-generation perpetual calendar movement with a fully ceramic Royal Oak case and bracelet. This model is powered by Calibre 7138 and features a solid dial rather than an open-worked display, offering a more traditional presentation of the complication.

The ceramic components are produced in a deep blue tone developed specifically to match Audemars Piguet’s historic “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” color, originally associated with the Royal Oak’s earliest dials. This darker, more nuanced shade represents a refinement of the brand’s previous blue ceramic executions and aligns closely with the collection’s heritage.
Calibre 7138 and 7139: A New Generation of Perpetual Calendar Movements
At the heart of all three watches are Audemars Piguet’s Calibres 7138 and 7139, which share the same technical foundation, with Calibre 7139 adapted for open-worked configurations. The movements retain the classical “grand lever” perpetual calendar architecture while introducing a modernized user interface.

All calendar indications, including the day, date, month, leap year, and moon phase, can be adjusted exclusively via the crown. This design eliminates the need for traditional case-side correctors and allows for more intuitive operation. A key component of the movement is a 48-tooth program wheel that mechanically encodes the varying lengths of the months across the four-year leap-year cycle. As a result, the calendar will remain accurate until the year 2100, when the Gregorian calendar omits a leap year, at which point the movement can be corrected without requiring disassembly or factory intervention.
Finishing and Manufacturing
The finishing of the new perpetual calendar movements is particularly emphasized in the open-worked versions. Audemars Piguet states that the bridges are initially formed using advanced machining techniques before undergoing extensive hand-finishing. The calibres feature a high number of interior angles, polished bevels, and carefully brushed surfaces, highlighting the complexity of both the design and manufacturing process.

Despite the use of modern production methods, each movement reportedly requires several dozen hours of manual finishing. This combination of contemporary engineering and traditional handcraft reflects Audemars Piguet’s approach to high-end perpetual calendar watchmaking.
