Arnold & Son Debuts Double Tourbillon With Baltic Amber Dial
Arnold & Son’s Double Tourbillon is back and after the one-off versions in Jade, Malachite and Aventurine it now arrives in a new rare material with a beautiful Yellow Baltic Amber dial, the first one in watchmaking.
The watch designed with travellers in mind comes with two symmetrical off-centre dials each for a different time zone that are powered by independent tourbillons.
The beautiful “Tiger” Amber dial in moiré yellow tones combines two symmetrical registers in white opal with blue arrow-tipped hands and Roman numerals for the local time at noon and Arabic numerals for the second time zone at 6 o’clock. They are separated by the two tourbillons at 3 and 9 o’clock connected by a three-dimensional skeletonized bridge in white gold that comes with a satin-brushed and mirror-polished finish.
Housed in a 43.50mm white gold case with a polished finish, it features straight thin lugs, a smooth bezel, domed sapphire crystal, two crowns inlaid with the brand’s logo at 2 and 8 o’clock that allow independent adjustment of each of the two times -zones by the minute hands and 30m of water resistance.
It is through the sapphire case back that we can discover the hand-wound movement Caliber A&S8513 of 42-jewel that runs 21,600 Vph and offers up to 90 hours of power reserve thanks to its double barrels. It is decorated with Côtes de Genève on the bridges and circular graining on the wheels.
The watch is attached to a jungle-green alligator leather strap, with a yellow lining and matching stitching with a white-gold folding clasp and is priced at CHF 227,100.
