Alpina Introduces Compact 39mm Alpiner Extreme: A Bold New Look With Fresh Dial Colors
The long-awaited arrival of a more compact version of the Alpina Alpiner Extreme has finally happened, introducing a 39mm case with three dial colour options, two of which are brand new to the collection. Retaining all the hallmark features of its larger sibling, this watch offers a versatile size without compromising on its robust character.
The Alpina Alpiner Extreme showcases its iconic cushion-shaped brushed stainless steel case, now scaled down to 39mm in diameter, 11.50mm in thickness, and 40.40mm in length. The watch maintains its signature design elements, including the round bezel secured by six screws in the shape of the brand’s logo, sapphire crystal on both the front and back, and a screw-down crown enhanced with a knurled rubber ring that matches the dial colour. With water resistance up to 200 meters, it’s built for durability.
One of the key attractions is the textured dial, which features the brand’s emblematic pattern and is available in three colours: the familiar blue, and two new hues—dark green and beige. The dial is complemented by applied indexes and hands filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility in low light. A central seconds hand with an open red triangle as a counterweight adds a dynamic touch, while the date window, placed beside the crown, stands out with its white background, differing from the black background in the larger 42mm version.
Powering the Alpina Alpiner Extreme is the Alpina AL-525 automatic movement, based on the Sellita SW200-1. This reliable movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a modest 38-hour power reserve. The movement can be admired through the transparent case back, where the asymmetrical black rotor stands out as a visual highlight.
The watch is available with either an integrated stainless steel bracelet or a matching rubber strap, the latter being exclusive to the beige dial variant. Both options come with a folding clasp, providing security and comfort. Prices start at €1,695 for the rubber strap model, with the steel bracelet version priced at €1,995.
For those seeking a timepiece that balances size, style, and ruggedness, the new Alpina Alpiner Extreme delivers with precision and flair.
