Alpina B8 GT: The Final Masterpiece Before BMW Integration
Alpina, the renowned German tuner specializing in enhancing BMW models, is about to close a significant chapter in its history. Before its complete integration into BMW in 2025, the brand introduces the B8 GT, its most powerful model ever produced, cementing its legacy as a niche manufacturer.
Impressive Power and Performance
Equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the Alpina B8 GT delivers an impressive 625 hp and 850 Nm of torque. This marks an improvement over the B5 model, with an increase of 12 hp and 50 Nm. Despite being slightly below the BMW M5 CS, which boasts 626 hp, the B8 GT compensates with 100 Nm more torque, offering an even more robust driving experience.
Acceleration is equally noteworthy: the B8 GT goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in 10.5 seconds. Its top speed is an impressive 330 km/h. To handle such power, the model uses an eight-speed automatic transmission developed by ZF, ensuring efficiency and durability.
Distinctive Design and Exclusivity
The B8 GT is not just a display of power but also of style and exclusivity. Limited to only 99 units, the model stands out with meticulously crafted details. Twenty of these units feature two-tone paintwork, combining Alpina’s classic blue or green with black, creating a unique and sophisticated aesthetic. Additionally, the car is adorned with a carbon-fiber body kit, including a prominent rear diffuser that enhances its dynamic appearance.
A Unique Configuration
Unlike the BMW M8 Gran Coupé, which uses the M division’s “S63” engine, the B8 GT is equipped with the standard “N63” engine, aligning it more closely with the M850i. This choice reflects Alpina’s approach to offering a distinct and balanced alternative within the BMW universe, focusing on performance paired with comfort.
The Alpina Legacy
Based in Buchloe, Bavaria, Alpina has built an unparalleled reputation over the decades, becoming synonymous with refinement and exclusivity in BMW vehicles. The B8 GT symbolizes the pinnacle of its journey as an independent manufacturer, marking the end of an era before full integration into BMW, which has already taken over the production of Alpina models at its Munich factory.
The Alpina B8 GT represents not only a technical achievement but also a tribute to the brand’s history. With its limited production and unparalleled features, it stands as a true collectible and a milestone in automotive history.
