Alpina Alpiner Extreme Now Arrives With A California Dial

Alpina brings something new to its Alpiner Extreme Automatic collection, a new variant that arrives with the California dial.

The new watch comes with a tough look, the textured dial is joined by a robust case with a brushed finish and a rubber strap, sending the message that it was designed for action and not to be coddled.

The latest Alpiner Extreme comes in the traditional cushion-shaped case, with dimensions of 41mm in diameter, 11.50mm in thickness and 49.50mm lug-to-lug distance. Mainly brushed finish with vertical orientation on the bezel and winds, angular orientation on the mid-case, polished bevels, sapphire glass on both sides, screw-down crown that comes with a rubber ring with the same texture as the strap and 200m of water resistance.

The grainy black dial comes with the same California layout from the 1930s, featuring applied Roman numerals from 10 to 2 o’clock, Arabic numerals from 4 to 8 o’clock, dashes at the quarters and an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock, and all filled with beige luminescent material which also applies to the hour and minute hands. Finally, a date window at 3 o’clock, the red brand’s logo at noon matching the inscription ‘Automatic’ at 6 o’clock and the triangular-shaped counterbalance of the centre seconds hand.

It is through the sapphire case back fixed by 6 screws that we can observe the Caliber AL-525 automatic movement based on the Sellita SW200-1, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve. Also noteworthy is the oscillating mass that comes with a black coat.

The watch comes attached to a textured black rubber strap, which is expected to arrive in December 2023 for a price of USD 1,795.
