Albshorn Unveils The Type 10: A Vintage-Inspired Military Chronograph
Albshorn, an independent Swiss watch brand with a legacy rooted in the expertise of its founder, who played a key role in revitalizing the Arnold & Sons and Angelus brands, has unveiled its ambitious new Air Collection. Central to this lineup is the Type 10 chronograph, an imagined precursor to the iconic Type 20 that the French army might have commissioned in 1948. This exceptional timepiece blends vintage inspiration with modern craftsmanship.
The Type 10 features a stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter, 12mm in thickness, and 47mm lug-to-lug. Its polished and satin finishes enhance its classic aesthetic, while the oversized 41.70mm bidirectional bezel with a black DLC coating and an old Radium lume scale adds a bold, functional touch. The domed sapphire crystal, a distinctive crown at 10:30, and a mono-pusher in red anodized aluminium positioned at 9:30 make the watch instantly recognizable. With a solid case back and 100 meters of water resistance, this chronograph is as durable as it is stylish.
The Bi-Compax dial is available in two variations: the Classic version with a black-grained background and the Sihlwald version with a striking green dial. Both designs feature running seconds at 4:30 and a 30-minute counter at 7:30, along with printed Arabic numerals and pencil hands filled with beige Super-LumiNova that matches the bezel’s lume. A red lollipop chronograph centre seconds hand adds a pop of contrast, while the Albshorn logo at noon completes the dial’s harmonious layout.
Powering the Type 10 is the hand-wound Caliber ALB02 M movement, a COSC-certified mechanism with 21 jewels. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 Vph, it provides an impressive 65-hour power reserve, ensuring reliable performance. The watch comes with a black rough leather strap, accompanied by an additional beige strap for the Classic version and a green strap for the Sihlwald version, both secured with a steel pin buckle.
