Albishorn Thundergraph: A Limited-Edition Chronograph Honoring Everest Expedition
Following the successful launch of the Type 10 chronograph, independent Swiss watchmaker Albishorn introduces the new Thundergraph, a limited-edition timepiece with only 99 pieces available. Paying tribute to the 1952 Swiss expeditions to Mount Everest, which brought climbers just 250 meters short of the summit via the Southeast Ridge, this chronograph embodies the spirit of exploration and precision engineering.
The Albishorn Thundergraph features a robust 39mm stainless steel case, extending to 42.70mm with its oversized bi-directional bezel in black and red lacquer. With a height of 12mm and a lug-to-lug length of 47.70mm, the case boasts a brushed finish that enhances its rugged aesthetic. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a large bronze crown at 10:30, accompanied by a red monopusher at 9:30, adds a distinctive character. The screw-down solid case back is engraved with the Swiss cross, ensuring durability and 100m of water resistance.
The dial of the Albishorn Thundergraph is a striking sunburst petroleum blue, featuring a California layout that combines Roman and Arabic numerals on the upper half. The lower half hosts two sub-dials: a running seconds counter on the right and a 30-minute chronograph register on the left. Gilt hour markers and pencil hands filled with “Old Radium” Super-LumiNova provide excellent legibility, while the red lollipop chronograph seconds hand complements the stopwatch function indicators. At the top of the dial, the embossed Albishorn logo completes the design with a refined touch.
Inside, the Thundergraph is powered by the hand-wound Caliber ALB03 M, a 21-jewel movement that is COSC-certified for exceptional accuracy. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (Vph), this high-precision movement delivers an impressive 65-hour power reserve, making it a reliable companion for both adventure and everyday wear.
The Albishorn Thundergraph is available with a rugged blue or beige leather strap, secured with a branded stainless steel pin buckle. With only 99 units being produced over the next three years, this exclusive chronograph is priced at CHF 3,650.
