Airain And Seconde/Seconde/ Revive Iconic Type 20 Chronograph
The historic watchmaking brand Airain, known for producing the much sought-after Type 20 chronographs that during the 50s and 60s, together with two other brands supplied the French Army, now joins the Seconde/Seconde/ brand to bring back the Type 20 in a limited edition.
Named “Up In The Air”, the new flyback Chronograph comes faithful to the original but with two records designed with the blue sky of Paris where we can visualize 8-bit pixel clouds and the tip of the Eiffel Tower mimic aeroplane portholes.
It is housed in a stainless steel case with dimensions of 39.50mm in diameter, 14.77mm in thickness and 47.70mm in length that features a brushed and polished finish, bidirectional 12-hour metallic bezel, double-domed sapphire crystal, fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pushers, solid case back with individual numbering and the two participating brands and finally, 50m water resistance.
The matte black dial is almost faithful to the original, features a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a running seconds at 9, large Arabic numerals that like the pencil hands come filled with beige Super-LumiNova, a minute / second track rehaut and the brand inscriptions followed by “Type 20” at noon and on the opposite side at 6 o’clock “23 Rubis” and “Incabloc” of the movement.
Inside it is powered by the hand-wound movement Caliber AM2 that presents a column-wheel and flyback chronograph, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 63 hours of power reserve.
The 88-piece edition comes attached to a black leather strap with white stitching and an additional black NATO strap with a blue stripe, with the first 44 units expected to be delivered in August and the remaining in September, priced at €3,450.
