Aikon Goes Ceramic: Maurice Lacroix’s Latest Innovation
Maurice Lacroix has expanded its popular Aikon collection by introducing two striking ceramic models, enhancing its lineup of diverse materials that already include steel, PVD, bronze, titanium, and recycled PET bottles. The new ceramic editions emphasize the brand’s commitment to innovation and style, offering exceptional durability and performance thanks to the integration of hafnium, yttrium, and aluminium oxides. These elements not only improve the watches’ anti-corrosion and hypoallergenic properties but also deliver superior thermal stability and robustness.
The latest Aikon models showcase a monochromatic aesthetic, with one version embracing a stealthy matte black finish and the other featuring a refined glossy white appearance. The Tonneau-shaped ceramic cases measure 42mm and 39mm in diameter, respectively, with a thickness of 11mm. While the black model boasts a sandblasted texture for a bold, contemporary look, the white variant dazzles with its polished, shiny finish, catering to those seeking a more elegant style. Both timepieces are equipped with sapphire crystals on the front and back, a fixed bezel adorned with the iconic Aikon claws, and a hexagonal screw-down crown positioned at 3 o’clock. Their construction ensures water resistance up to 200 meters, underscoring their reliability in various settings.
The dials harmonize with the ceramic cases, featuring the signature Clou de Paris pattern. The black version presents a matte dial with blackened indexes and hands filled with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility, while the white model pairs a lacquered dial with rhodium-plated hour markers and luminescent hands. Both designs include a discreet date window near the crown, a precise minute track, and the Maurice Lacroix logo embossed at noon, accompanied by the brand’s lettering and “Automatic” above 6 o’clock.
Powering these new Aikon watches is the reliable Sellita SW200-based Caliber ML115. This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, features 26 jewels, and delivers a power reserve of up to 38 hours. The watches come paired with integrated ceramic bracelets that match their respective cases, complete with a signed folding clasp and the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange system, allowing for effortless customization.
Now available for CHF 2,990, these ceramic Aikon models blend style, innovation, and versatility, catering to collectors and enthusiasts seeking a sophisticated yet durable timepiece.
