After the Timex Waterbury Dive Now Comes the Chronograph Version
Timex, after reviving the Waterbury Watch Company, a Connecticut company founded in 1880 that was notable for producing cheap pocket watches, through five models inspired by diving watches, now decides to expand the horizons of the Waterbury collection with the introduction of two chronographs.
The chronographs, which are based on the same stainless steel case layout as the Waterbury Dive, feature a 41mm diameter by 13mm thickness and a 20mm lug to lug distance, a tachymeter fixed bezel, fluted crown with the Waterbury logo, two pushers that control chronograph function, mineral glass front, solid case back with the world map drawn and 100 meters water resistance.
Let’s get to the (obvious) differences, and starting with the most daring variant, it comes with a silver dial with three totalizers in different shades, one aqua green at 3 o’clock, a red one at 6 and another blue at 9. A date window at 4 1/2 o’clock, grey hour markers and hands filled with luminescent material and the double Waterbury logo designed on the dial at 7 1/2 o’clock and on the counterweight of the second hand. On the outside, the only highlight is the silver bezel with black inscriptions and the steel bracelet with toothed links.
The other variant presents a classic look featuring a black dial and three silver sub-dials, plated hour markers and hands, and a green central second’s hand. On the outside, like the other variant, the bezel follows the black tone of the dial with white inscriptions and comes with a black leather strap with a quick-release system.
As expected, there is a quartz movement inside, which keeps prices below €200, €179 for the leather strap version and €199 for the steel bracelet option.
