A Smaller Case, Same Versatility: Meet The Tissot Gentleman 38mm
Tissot has expanded its well-established Gentleman collection with a new 38 mm case size, offering a more compact take on one of the brand’s most versatile everyday watches. Since its debut in 2019, the Gentleman has built a strong reputation in the entry-level mechanical segment thanks to its balanced design, reliable movement, and accessible price point.

This latest addition retains the familiar aesthetic of the collection while refining its proportions for those who prefer a slightly smaller wrist presence.
A More Compact Stainless Steel Case
The new Gentleman now arrives in a 38 mm stainless steel case, downsized from the previous 40mm version. Despite the reduced diameter, the design remains instantly recognizable, preserving the elegant sporty character that has made the model so popular.

The case is predominantly finished with a fine brushed surface, while a polished sloping bezel adds a refined contrast and helps frame the dial. Along the sides, a polished bevel running through the caseband introduces extra visual depth and elevates the overall finishing.
In terms of proportions, the watch measures 45.70 mm from lug to lug, ensuring comfortable wear across a wide range of wrist sizes. The Gentleman 38 mm is equipped with a sapphire crystal on the front and a transparent caseback that reveals the movement within. Its screw-down-style knurled crown allows for easy adjustment of the time and date, while the case offers a water resistance rating of 100 meters, reinforcing its practicality as an everyday timepiece.
Sunray Dials in Four Color Options
Tissot offers the new 38 mm Gentleman in four dial variations: silver, black, blue, and green. Each version features a sunray-brushed finish enhanced by a subtle pyramidal texture that interacts beautifully with changing light conditions.

Compared to the larger 40 mm model, the dial has been slightly simplified, most notably through the removal of the crosshair motif seen on its bigger sibling. The result is a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
Applied hour markers and central hands are filled with Super-LumiNova to ensure strong legibility in darker environments. Around the outer edge, a sloped minute flange with dotted markers adds precision to the display, while a framed date window at 3 o’clock maintains the watch’s practical everyday appeal.
Powermatic 80 Movement with Nivachron Hairspring
Powering the Gentleman 38 mm is the widely used Powermatic 80 automatic movement, one of the strongest assets in this price segment.

The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve, making it particularly convenient for those who rotate between multiple watches during the week.
A notable distinction from the 40mm version is the use of a Nivachron hairspring instead of a silicon balance spring. This modern titanium-based alloy is designed to provide excellent resistance against magnetic fields, temperature variations, and shocks, all of which contribute to improved long-term reliability and daily performance.
Stainless Steel Bracelet and Price
The Gentleman 38 mm is paired with a stainless steel three-link bracelet that combines brushed outer links with polished center links, creating an elegant contrast that complements the case finishing. The bracelet is secured by a folding clasp, reinforcing its everyday practicality and comfort.

Priced at CHF 695, the new Tissot Gentleman 38 mm stands out as a compelling option in the accessible Swiss mechanical watch segment. With its versatile proportions, reliable automatic movement, solid technical specifications, and timeless design, this new size is likely to broaden the appeal of one of Tissot’s most successful modern collections.
