A New Shade Of The Desert: The Chronoswiss Opus Chronograph Dakar
Chronoswiss continues to explore the boundaries of mechanical artistry with the new Opus Chronograph Dakar, a warm, desert-toned interpretation of its signature skeletonized chronograph. Originally introduced in 1995 as the world’s first serially produced skeletonized automatic chronograph, the Opus remains one of the brand’s most recognizable creations, now refined for the modern era.

A Case That Honors Tradition and Innovation
The new Opus Chronograph Dakar features the distinctive case architecture that has defined Chronoswiss for decades — the drum-shaped profile, coin-edge bezel, large onion crown, and two pushers all make a return. Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, the case measures 41 mm in diameter and 14.80 mm thick, offering both lightweight comfort and exceptional durability.

Sapphire crystals on both sides of the watch reveal the intricate mechanics within, while vertical brushing along the flanks contrasts with the polished top surfaces. Despite its open design, the watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, underscoring its technical resilience.
A Skeletonized Dial with Desert Warmth
The open-worked dial exposes the heart of the chronograph movement while incorporating warm brown CVD-coated accents across the peripheral minute track and sub-dials. The layout follows the classic Opus configuration, with a pointer date display positioned at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour totalizer placed at 6 o’clock, the 30-minute chronograph counter located at 12 o’clock, and the small seconds set at 9 o’clock.

White printed numerals and Breguet-style open-tipped hands ensure clear legibility against the darkened mechanical backdrop, while the warm brown tones evoke the soft hues of desert sands.
The Movement: A Display of Mechanical Transparency
Powering the Chronoswiss Opus Chronograph Dakar is the Calibre C.741S, a skeletonized automatic chronograph movement based on the ETA Valjoux 7750. The bridges feature a galvanic black finish with perlage decoration, while the black CVD-coated rotor is skeletonized and adorned with Côtes de Genève. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a 46-hour power reserve.

The transparent construction allows a full view of the gears, levers, and bridges — a hallmark of the Opus collection since its debut.
Finishing Touches
Completing the desert-inspired theme, the watch is fitted with a sand-colored nubuck leather strap that complements the warm brown tones of the dial.

The Chronoswiss Opus Chronograph Dakar is priced at CHF 13,900, combining technical mastery, skeletonized craftsmanship, and distinctive aesthetics in a design that remains unmistakably Chronoswiss.
