Advanced Titanium Case Construction

At the core of this model is a substantial 47 mm case crafted from Grade 5 titanium using Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). This innovative manufacturing technique builds the case layer by layer from titanium powder, allowing for complex internal geometries that traditional machining cannot achieve. The result is not only visually striking but also highly efficient in terms of weight: the structure is significantly lighter than standard titanium cases and dramatically lighter than steel equivalents.

The sandblasted finish enhances the tool-watch character, while the unidirectional rotating bezel—equipped with a matte blue ceramic insert—ensures durability and scratch resistance. Around the back, a sapphire crystal window set into the titanium caseback reveals the movement within.

Skeletonised Mechanics: Calibre P.4001/S

Powering the watch is the in-house P.4001/S automatic calibre, a sophisticated movement designed to showcase its internal architecture. Comprising 341 components, it operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and delivers a robust 72-hour power reserve via twin barrels.

A key feature is the off-centre micro-rotor, which winds the movement efficiently while preserving an open view of the skeletonised bridges. This layout emphasizes depth and mechanical complexity, aligning perfectly with the watch’s technical identity.

Functional Innovations

Despite its openworked design, functionality remains a priority. The watch integrates a second time zone (GMT) display, indicated by a highly legible orange hand, accompanied by a day/night indicator for practical travel use.

One of the standout technical elements is the patented polarised date mechanism positioned at 3 o’clock. This system keeps the date disc effectively hidden within the dial architecture, only revealing the numeral through the aperture—maintaining visual clarity without disrupting the skeletonised view.

Legibility and Design Details

The dial features a distinctive grid-like structure inspired by maritime netting, a subtle nod to Panerai’s naval heritage. Applied hour markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring readability in low-light conditions. The luminescence is thoughtfully differentiated: blue for the minute track and bezel markers, and green for other key indications.

The iconic crown-protecting bridge remains a defining element, reinforcing both the brand’s identity and the watch’s robust construction.

Built for Extreme Conditions

Engineered for serious underwater use, the watch offers water resistance up to 500 metres. Each piece undergoes rigorous testing, including pressure simulations and vacuum checks, with performance verified beyond the stated rating to ensure reliability in demanding environments.

Straps and Presentation

The watch is delivered with a blue rubber strap secured by a sandblasted titanium trapezoidal buckle, perfectly suited for aquatic use. A second black bi-material strap is included for versatility, along with a dedicated tool for easy strap changes.
