A New Chapter For The 57.04: Inside The Ming Phoenix Chronograph
With the introduction of the 57.04 Phoenix, Ming expands its fifth-generation design language with a chronograph that refines and evolves last year’s concept. While the earlier 57.04 Iris showcased bold, multi-hued theatrics, the Phoenix adopts a more restrained yet equally technical approach—retaining the architecture and complexity of the platform while presenting a new visual identity.

A Dial Built on Depth and Light
The defining feature of the 57.04 Phoenix is its multi-layered dial construction. The base dial is finished in circularly brushed grey with a subtle dished profile, lending it a more industrial and technical character. Rather than placing color across the entire surface, Ming integrates iridescent tones beneath precisely executed radial cutouts.

These apertures reveal shifting hues of pink, purple, and blue depending on lighting conditions and viewing angle. The effect is dynamic without overwhelming the overall aesthetic, offering visual contrast while maintaining cohesion.
Luminescence plays a significant role in the watch’s nighttime presence. The hands and sandwich chronograph minute counter disc are filled with Super-LumiNova X1, ensuring strong performance in low light. Additionally, Ming’s proprietary Polar White luminous compound is applied within the laser-cut markings on the top sapphire crystal—an increasingly recognizable signature of the brand’s modern models. The result is a layered glow effect that enhances legibility and emphasizes the watch’s architectural dial design.
Case Architecture: Triple-Stepped Lugs and Monopusher Layout
The 57.04 Phoenix retains the distinctive case introduced with the Iris. Crafted from stainless steel, the watch measures 40 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 11.85 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 47.80 mm. These proportions position it firmly in the contemporary sports-chronograph segment, offering presence on the wrist without becoming overbearing.

The triple-stepped lug design remains a defining feature, adding geometric depth and visual complexity to the case profile. Combined with the domed crystal and sculpted mid-case, the overall construction reinforces Ming’s layered design philosophy.
The chronograph operates in a destro monopusher configuration, with the single pusher positioned on the left side of the case. This layout streamlines the functionality, as all chronograph operations—start, stop, and reset—are controlled through one actuator, while also contributing to the watch’s unconventional aesthetic.
Movement: Sellita for Ming SW562.M1
Visible through the exhibition caseback is the Sellita for Ming SW562.M1 monopusher chronograph caliber. In the Phoenix, the movement’s three-quarter plate receives a dark coating, creating a sleeker appearance that visually aligns with the grey dial.

This customized movement is specifically configured for the monopusher format, integrating the chronograph mechanism into a compact and robust architecture. The finishing emphasizes modern surfaces and tonal consistency, complementing the contemporary character of the watch rather than relying on traditional decorative elements.
Strap Options and Availability
The 57.04 Phoenix is offered either on an FKM rubber strap, priced at CHF 6,250, or on the titanium Polymesh bracelet at CHF 7,250. The Polymesh bracelet, introduced previously, features a lightweight and highly flexible titanium construction. Its mesh-inspired architecture delivers both comfort and a distinctive technical aesthetic, providing an alternative wearing experience compared to the more understated rubber option.

Unlike its predecessor, the 57.04 Phoenix is not a limited edition. Instead, it joins Ming’s core collection and will be produced in defined annual quantities. For the current production year, 150 pieces are planned.
The watch is available directly through Ming as well as via authorized retailers.
A Balanced Evolution of the 57.04 Platform
The Ming 57.04 Phoenix retains the complexity and architectural ambition of the original model while introducing a more controlled interplay of texture, color, and light. With its layered dial construction, luminous crystal markings, triple-stepped lugs, and monopusher chronograph configuration, it continues to showcase the brand’s distinctive approach to contemporary watchmaking—now presented in a refined form suitable for ongoing production within the core lineup.
