A Lunar New Year Tribute: Panerai’s Radiomir 8 Giorni China Edition
Panerai celebrates the upcoming Lunar New Year with a distinctive creation — the Radiomir 8 Giorni China PAM02088. Limited to just 300 pieces worldwide, this exclusive timepiece pays homage to one of the brand’s most iconic early models, the Reference 3646, while introducing a meaningful cultural reinterpretation.

A Modern Take on a Historic Dial
The new Radiomir 8 Giorni revisits one of Panerai’s most recognizable design elements: the California dial. Originally developed in the 1930s and later featured on the Ref. 3646 dive watches produced for the Italian Navy, this dial combined Roman numerals on the upper half with Arabic numerals on the lower half to enhance legibility under demanding conditions.

For the PAM02088, Panerai reimagines this classic layout by replacing the traditional Arabic numerals with Chinese numerals, creating a unique dial that honors both the brand’s naval heritage and Chinese culture. The result is a striking fusion of East and West within Panerai’s historic design language.
Design and Construction
The watch features a 45 mm cushion-shaped case, crafted from Brutino stainless steel, a material that undergoes a special hand-brushing process to create an aged, character-rich appearance. The design maintains the signature wire lugs and conical crown, true to the early Radiomir models, while the case dimensions are slightly refined for modern comfort.

A domed sapphire crystal protects the matte black dial, which displays horizontal markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, a triangle at 12 o’clock, and a railroad minute track around the perimeter. The blued hands, achieved through a controlled oxidation process, complement the vintage-inspired dial layout.
To enhance legibility in low light, the hour markers and hands are coated with beige Super-LumiNova X1, providing a warm, aged patina effect that reinforces the historical character of the piece.
Power and Performance
Inside the Radiomir 8 Giorni China PAM02088 beats Panerai’s In-house Caliber P.5000. This hand-wound mechanical movement is equipped with two mainspring barrels, delivering an impressive eight-day power reserve — a hallmark feature that reflects Panerai’s early innovations in long-running military instruments.

The solid caseback preserves the classic Radiomir silhouette, emphasizing robustness and simplicity, consistent with the brand’s utilitarian heritage.
Strap and Presentation
Completing the watch’s vintage aesthetic, the PAM02088 comes fitted with a brown leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching and a stainless-steel pin buckle. The natural tones of the strap complement the Brutino steel case and beige lume, creating a harmonious, understated look.
Availability
The Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni China PAM02088 will debut in the Chinese market in late November, followed by a broader Asia-wide release in December. A global rollout is planned for early 2026, reaching key markets in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East ahead of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

With its fusion of cultural symbolism, historic design cues, and mechanical excellence, the PAM02088 stands as a distinctive tribute to Panerai’s enduring legacy — linking the spirit of the original Ref. 3646 to a new generation of collectors.
