A Legend Returns: The Shelby GT350 Convertible Is Back For 2026
The Shelby GT350 may no longer be a factory Ford trim, but its legend lives on through Shelby American. For 2026, the modern GT350 lineup expands with a new convertible variant, adding open-air drama to an already extreme Mustang package.

At its core, the recipe remains familiar. Shelby’s latest GT350 delivers over 800 horsepower thanks to a Whipple supercharger, paired with a Borla exhaust, upgraded suspension components, performance tires, and distinctive flow-forged wheels. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission, whether opting for the fastback or the new drop-top.

Yes, convertibles are heavier and less rigid, but few experiences rival manually shifting a supercharged V8 with no roof overhead. Shelby clearly agrees, positioning the GT350 Convertible as an emotional, experience-first performance car rather than a numbers-only track weapon.
For 2026, Shelby also introduces a new “Orange Fury” paint option, adding even more visual flair. Interior and exterior Shelby-specific trim remains part of the package, and every car is officially documented in the Shelby Registry.

Not everyone needs 800-plus horsepower, and Shelby acknowledges that by continuing to offer a naturally aspirated GT350 producing around 480 hp. Pricing for 2026 hasn’t been announced yet, though the previous non-supercharged model sat at roughly USD 110,000.

Factory Ford warranties remain intact, supplemented by Shelby’s own three-year, 36,000-mile coverage. While Shelby hasn’t detailed any convertible-specific chassis upgrades, the company’s long history suggests the platform has been engineered with the power output firmly in mind.

The GT350 Convertible also reconnects with Shelby history. Back in 1966, Carroll Shelby commissioned four GT350 convertibles, each in a different color. Those cars became icons, and their legacy directly inspired the return of the open-top GT350.

Production will be limited, with fewer than 1,000 Shelby GT350 street cars planned for 2026, and only a small portion of those destined to be convertibles. Rare, powerful, and unapologetically dramatic, the 2026 Shelby Mustang GT350 Convertible is a reminder that some performance cars are meant to be driven with the sky above and the supercharger singing.
