A Darker Edge: The New Mido Multifort TV Chronograph In Black DLC Steel

Mido continues to strengthen the identity of its retro-futuristic Multifort TV collection with the arrival of a striking new chronograph model—this time presented in stainless steel with a full black DLC coating. Following the two chronograph versions launched earlier this year, this new addition maintains the same technical foundations while delivering a dramatically different presence on the wrist.

A Dark New Aesthetic With DLC-Coated Steel

The hallmark rounded-square case of the Multifort TV Chronograph is now transformed through a uniform black Diamond-Like Carbon coating, giving the architecture a sleeker and more contemporary attitude. The shape, dimensions and general structure remain identical to the earlier chronograph releases. The case measures 41.20 mm in length at the bezel, 42 mm in width and 14.40 mm in thickness. It retains its sapphire crystal that follows the profile of the case, along with the screw-down crown framed by a pair of chronograph pushers. On the reverse side, the circular sapphire crystal of the exhibition caseback continues to offer an unobstructed view of the movement.

A major part of its visual identity comes from the matching black DLC-coated stainless-steel bracelet, which reinforces the integrated look of the TV-shaped case. The result is a darker, more architectural expression of the Multifort TV design language.

A Dial With Striking Graphic Depth

At the center of this black-coated exterior lies a dial designed for both visual impact and functional clarity. The surface features intense horizontal brushing that shimmers across a gradient transitioning from gray at the center to deep black along the perimeter, creating a pronounced sense of depth.

The chronograph layout remains consistent with the existing models. A 30-minute counter sits at 3 o’clock, complemented by a 12-hour recorder positioned at 6 o’clock. A running seconds display is placed at 9 o’clock, and a discreet date aperture appears at 4:30. Each element is balanced across the dial, contributing to the distinctive symmetry of the Multifort TV Chronograph.

The hands and indexes are crafted in black lacquer to harmonize with the overall aesthetic. Beige Super-LumiNova® ensures they remain perfectly legible in low-light conditions, maintaining practical functionality within a stealth-focused design.

A Dependable and Well-Finished Movement

Inside, Mido maintains the same mechanical architecture used in the previous models. The watch is powered by the Mido Calibre 60, an automatic movement based on the upgraded ETA A05.231. It incorporates 24 jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, ensuring smooth chronograph operation and stable timekeeping. The movement also provides a generous 60-hour power reserve. Decorative finishing—such as perlage on the mainplate, brushed surfaces on the openworked rotor and blued screws—remains visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback.

Additional Strap for Versatility

Beyond the DLC-coated steel bracelet, Mido includes a second strap to expand the watch’s versatility. This beige leather strap features a patina-style finish with contrasting black stitching and is fitted with a stainless-steel pin buckle coated in black PVD and engraved with the MIDO logo. Thanks to the quick-change system, switching between bracelet and strap is fast and straightforward.

A Stealthy New Identity at an Accessible Price

With this new DLC-coated chronograph, Mido pushes the Multifort TV collection into a more assertive and contemporary realm. The watch preserves the core traits of the line—the textured dial, TV-shaped case, reliable movement and balanced chronograph architecture—while introducing a much darker and modern aesthetic.

The new model is priced at CHF 2,420, offering strong value for a chronograph with this level of design execution and mechanical refinement.
