Mido has unveiled a redesigned version of its Ocean Star 200, bringing a fresh aesthetic to one of the brand’s most accessible dive watches while preserving the core characteristics that have defined the collection. The latest generation focuses on refined proportions, a more technical visual identity, and the proven Calibre 80 automatic movement, reinforcing its position as a practical diver built for everyday use.

A Modernized Dive Watch Case

The new Ocean Star 200 is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 41 mm in diameter, 11.65 mm in thickness, and 47.03 mm from lug to lug. While the dimensions remain highly wearable, the design language has been noticeably sharpened.

The case now features polished chamfers, enlarged crown guards, and an updated unidirectional bezel, now displaying larger numerals and sharper markings on its aluminum insert, improving legibility.

Despite its more muscular design, the watch retains all the essential specifications expected from a modern diver. It is equipped with a screw-down crown, provides water resistance up to 200 metres, and is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides for optimal clarity in all lighting conditions.

A Dial Designed for Depth and Clarity

The most significant visual transformation can be found on the dial, which has been completely reworked to offer a more structured and contemporary feel. A raised chapter ring now frames the display, adding both depth and a more technical character while bringing the minute track closer to the wearer’s line of sight.

Applied hour markers have been enlarged and given a more substantial presence, improving legibility at a glance. The dial itself now features a finely grained texture that interacts with light in a more dynamic way than the previous generation’s flatter surface finish. This change adds visual complexity without compromising clarity.

The hands have also been redesigned with a thicker, more assertive profile, contributing to improved readability in low-light and underwater environments. Mido’s signature orange accents remain present, appearing on the seconds hand as well as the “Calibre 80” inscription, providing a subtle but recognisable design signature.

The collection is offered in four distinct colour variations. One version pairs a deep blue dial with a matching blue bezel for a unified and classic aesthetic. Another features a clean white dial combined with a silver-tone bezel for a brighter, more elegant look. For those preferring a darker approach, a full black configuration is available. A fourth variant combines a white dial with a black bezel and matching chapter ring, creating a strong contrast that enhances legibility and visual impact.

Reliable Performance from the Calibre 80

At the heart of the Ocean Star 200 is Mido’s Calibre 80 automatic movement, based on the ETA C07.621 architecture. Its standout feature remains its extended power reserve of up to 80 hours, allowing the watch to run for several days without winding, and is equipped with a Nivachron balance spring improving resistance to magnetic fields.

Updated Bracelet with Improved Functionality

The watch is completed by a redesigned stainless steel bracelet with a three-link construction. The outer links are brushed, while the central links are polished, creating a balanced contrast that leans both sporty and refined.

Practical enhancements have also been introduced. The bracelet now features quick-release spring bars, allowing for tool-free strap changes, and a diver’s extension integrated into the clasp, offering additional flexibility when worn over a wetsuit or during changes in wrist size due to temperature.

Availability and Pricing

The Mido Ocean Star 200 is now available, priced at CHF 800 on the stainless steel bracelet. A rubber strap option is also offered for the black dial version, priced at CHF 770.
