Introduced in the early 1970s, the model has become one of the brand’s most recognizable instrument watches, combining a functional design with the robust engineering that defines Sinn’s approach to watchmaking.

The latest interpretation, the Sinn 144 St Sa Sporthilfe, builds on this legacy while introducing a distinctive aesthetic and a meaningful collaboration with the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe, the German foundation dedicated to supporting elite athletes. Produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces, the watch maintains the technical DNA of the 144 while presenting a dial configuration rarely seen within the series.

A Brighter Dial for the 144 Chronograph

Most versions of the 144 chronograph have traditionally been associated with darker dial tones, reinforcing their tool-watch character. This edition takes a different direction with a silk-matte white dial, offering a brighter and highly legible appearance while preserving the instrument-like clarity that has always defined the collection.

The layout follows the classic tri-compax configuration, but with a specific distribution of functions. Two of the subdials are dedicated to the chronograph: a 30-minute counter positioned at 12 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. Both are distinguished by red hands, a color also used for the central chronograph seconds hand, reinforcing the sporty character of the watch.

At 9 o’clock, the running seconds display introduces a subtle visual highlight with a gold-toned hand, adding a refined contrast against the white background. A day-date window at 3 o’clock enhances everyday usability without disrupting the balanced layout of the dial.

The connection to Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe is integrated discreetly rather than prominently. The inner ring of the dial features the words “Performance,” “Fair Play,” and “Togetherness,” reflecting the values promoted by the organization while maintaining the clean and functional aesthetic typical of Sinn watches.

A Case Built for Durability

The case of the 144 St Sa Sporthilfe remains faithful to the well-established architecture of the series. Crafted from stainless steel, it features a bead-blasted finish that emphasizes its utilitarian character while minimizing reflections.

With a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of 14.10 mm, the watch presents solid proportions that align with its role as a functional chronograph. The construction is engineered to withstand demanding environments, offering water resistance up to 20 bar (200 meters).

A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent sapphire caseback reveals the mechanical movement within. This combination allows the wearer to appreciate the mechanics of the watch while preserving the rugged qualities associated with the 144 series.

The Calibre C99001 Automatic Movement

Powering the watch is the Calibre C99001, an automatic chronograph movement based on the well-known ETA 7750 architecture. Designed for reliability and precision, the movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and incorporates 25 jewels.

It offers a power reserve of up to 48 hours and includes features such as shock resistance, anti-magnetic protection, and a hacking seconds function, enabling precise synchronization when setting the time. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement reflects Sinn’s focus on robust mechanical performance rather than elaborate decorative finishing.

Bracelet, Strap and Availability

The Sinn 144 St Sa Sporthilfe is delivered with two different wearing options. The watch comes fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, but it also includes a white integrated silicone strap, both secured with a steel folding clasp. The inclusion of the white silicone strap complements the dial and gives the watch a more contemporary and sporty look.

Limited to 300 pieces, the watch is offered at a retail price of € 3,990.
